*Is my school closed due to COVID-19?*

Remember that if you are unwell with a temperature, cough or cold and flu symptoms, it’s important that you stay at home and practice social distancing.

Short answer –  schools are open

Long answer

At this stage, no NT government schools will be closing; however the Prime Minister has said that parents can choose to keep their children at home if they wish to.

Your school has been asked to:

  • practising and promoting good hygiene practices
  • considering moving classes outside, separating into smaller groups and/ or spreading into larger indoor spaces
  • avoiding handshaking, hugging and kissing, or games that include holding hands or other physical contact
  • reconsideration of school excursions, assemblies and other events.

What if I attend a private or independent school?

If you go to a private or independent school, they can make their own decisions about whether your school can stay open or not. We recommend that you contact your school directly and ask if they are open.
